Google
Adword is quite an easy platform to advertise, if you are clear with the facts
how it works? The most important thing which we really need to be clear about
is Quality Score, based on which Google decide what is the Ad rank
for your ad.
The value
of quality score is given between 1 to 10 by Google, where 10 is the best and 1
is the worst score for your ad.
The facts
which impact your ad's quality score are:
- Expected Click through Rate
- Ad Landing Page experience
- Ad Relevancy
Another factor which can be taken into account is ad format/ extensions
which are available for free of cost in Google AdWords. (I will explain them in
details in another blog post).
So if you want your ad cost to be less and your ad position to be good
you need to focus on all these points. Remember user needs relevant information
and Google need user so obviously it will not like to serve some junk ad to the
users. That's why try to make your ad as relevant as possible and focus on all
the factors of Quality score.
Now when we are clear about Quality score, we need to know about what is Ad Rank.
Ad Rank is calculated by
Google based on your quality score and max CPC.
The formula to calculate Ad Rank is:
Ad Rank= Max CPC X Quality Score
Note: To know the quality
score of you ad, Go inside your ad group (keyword column)and you would see a
tab appearing in front of the keyword column named status, there in front of
the keyword when you would hover over the eligible bubble a detailed popup will
appear where you can see the quality score of your with details. I have created
a test campaign to show you how it will look like. Have a look below.
I have not created a proper ad that is why my quality score is 6 which is
an average quality score. Once you have created and proper and keeping in mind
the quality score. You would get a better score out of 10.
So All the best.
